Babu Jagjivan Ram Hostel Scheme
Main Objective of the Scheme:
- To provide residential facilities to Scheduled Caste boys and girls studying in secondary and higher secondary schools, colleges, and universities.
- State governments/union territories and central and state universities/institutions are eligible for financial assistance for extended construction and building renovation. Private deemed universities are eligible for this scheme for extended construction.
Key Conditions of the Scheme:
- The institution must be functioning under the Department of Social Justice or a central university, and must have independently applied for construction grants.
- The institution must submit a definite construction schedule and complete the construction within 5 years of receiving the central grant.
- Grants will not be provided for more than 100 admissions per institution. Out of 100 students, 10% must be non-Scheduled Caste students.
Nature of Benefits:
- For boys’ hostels: 50:50% (Central Government: State Government: Voluntary Organization)
- For girls’ hostels: 100% (Central Government: Voluntary Organization)
