    Annual Scheduled Program for De-addiction Activities

    Objective of the Scheme

    In line with Maharashtra’s de-addiction policy, various programs and days are celebrated annually under the scheduled program through the District Social Welfare Officer, Zilla Parishad, under the Directorate of Social Welfare.

    This is a global day. The program should primarily be planned at the district level, involving government institutions and NGOs. The Zilla Parishad Health Department should also be involved with the cooperation of health officers. Organize exhibitions, seminars, and guidance from experts, and create public awareness for de-addiction with the help of artists.

    2 June June 26 International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking

    This is an international day. Organize a public awareness rally with the participation of universities, women’s groups, youth groups, local NGOs, funded institutions, colleges, secondary schools, primary schools, institutions for the disabled, ashram schools, Zilla Parishad officials, public representatives, and local activists.

    3 October October 2 to 8 70th De-addiction (Prohibition) Week and Anti-Drug Week

    In honor of the birth anniversaries of Mahatma Gandhi and Lal Bahadur Shastri, organize a grand de-addiction week and anti-drug awareness campaign in the district with the active participation of Panchayat Samitis, Gram Panchayats, women’s groups, youth groups, NGOs working in slums and tribal areas, folk artists, youth, women’s groups, Nehru Yuva Kendra, National Service Scheme, and centrally funded de-addiction centers. Organize various programs such as cultural events, exhibitions, meetings, seminars, and gatherings to make the week effective and impactful.

    4 October 2 Inauguration

    The inauguration of the de-addiction week should be held at the district level by garlanding the statue of Mahatma Gandhi in a public place. Invite the Guardian Minister, District Collector, District Police Chief, local representatives, Zilla Parishad representatives, Panchayat Samiti officials, Zilla Parishad employees, Health Department, other important government department employees, National Service Scheme, college students, school students, labor unions, women’s organizations, youth organizations, etc. Invite senior freedom fighters as chief guests and request the Guardian Minister or District Collector to preside. Invite the Chief Executive Officer, Zilla Parishad, and District Police Chief. Arrange for guidance from experts.

    5 October 3 Women’s Gathering

    Involve women’s groups from the district in this gathering and ensure maximum participation of women. Invite expert female doctors and lawyers for guidance.

    6 October 4 Youth Gathering

    Involve at least 5 National Service Scheme students from each college in the district, youth groups, and Nehru Yuva Kendra groups. Arrange for guidance from experts and ensure maximum youth participation.

    7 October 5 Workers’ Gathering and Workshop

    Organize a gathering for workers in the industrial sector. Ensure maximum participation of workers, including electricity workers, ST workers, municipal workers, railway workers, and industrial workers. Invite experts for guidance.

    8 October 6 Youth Workshop

    Involve National Service Scheme students, program officers, and young workers in this workshop. Invite experts working in the field of de-addiction for guidance.

    9 October 7 Seminars

    Involve National Service Scheme students, college students, social work college students, women, youth workers, etc., in the seminars. Invite social workers, professors, doctors, lawyers, and experts in the field of de-addiction for guidance.

    10 October 8 Conclusion of the Week

    At the conclusion of the de-addiction week, honor individuals, artists, journalists, and public representatives who contributed throughout the week. Distribute certificates to students. Honor individuals who have overcome addiction. Organize a program showcasing success stories of de-addiction by local artists.

    11 January January 12 to 14 Youth Week

    Plan the program at the district level, primarily involving colleges, junior colleges, secondary and primary schools. Organize a message rally at the district headquarters to spread the message of de-addiction to every household. Organize exhibitions and seminars in colleges, and arrange programs by artists and street plays at various places. Arrange for guidance from experts with the cooperation of Nehru Yuva Kendra.
