Establishment of 100 Government Residential Schools at Taluka Level for Scheduled Caste and Neo-Buddhist Boys and Girls

Main Objective of the Scheme:
- Due to financial circumstances, Scheduled Caste and Neo-Buddhist boys and girls are unable to receive primary and secondary education. To facilitate the education of such children, the government has decided to start a government residential school in each taluka. In the first phase, approval has been received to start government residential schools in 100 talukas, out of which 90 residential schools are currently operational.
- In these residential schools, Scheduled Caste and Neo-Buddhist boys and girls from 6th to 10th standard are admitted. From June 2011, classes for 6th and 7th standards have been started, and from the academic year 2012-13, classes for 8th standard and subsequently, as per natural class progression, classes for 9th and 10th standards have been started.
Key Conditions of the Scheme:
- The student must belong to Scheduled Caste or Neo-Buddhist categories.
- The student must be a resident of Maharashtra.
- The annual income of the parents of the admitted student should not exceed Rs. 2,00,000.
Nature of Benefits:
- Free food, accommodation, library facilities, and other necessary educational facilities are provided in the residential schools.
