Main Objective of the Scheme
- To prevent and eradicate human sacrifice and other inhuman, evil, and aghori practices and black magic.
Punishment for Offenses:
- Imprisonment ranging from six months to seven years and a fine ranging from ₹5,000 to ₹50,000.
Nature of the Crime:
- ‘Cognizable’ and ‘Non-Bailable’
Definitions:
Any act performed by an individual or induced by others, under the guise of so-called supernatural powers or spirits, which disrupts societal harmony, is considered an offense.
Authority to Prosecute:
Metropolitan Magistrate or First Class Judicial Magistrate and higher courts.
Appointment of Vigilance Officer:
Each police station must appoint a police officer not below the rank of Inspector as a vigilance officer. This officer has the authority to enter any premises, conduct searches, etc.
Implementation Committee:
As per the Government Resolution dated 2 March 2022, an Anti-Superstition Law Awareness and Implementation Committee (PIMC) has been restructured under the chairmanship of the Minister of Social Justice and Special Assistance Department.
