Senior Citizens Policy Implementation Scheme

- Government Resolution No. Jyeshthana-2016/Pr. No. 71/Samasu, dated 9 July 2018
Main Objective of the Scheme:
To ensure that senior citizens can spend their old age comfortably, live a dignified life in society, maintain good physical and mental health, and receive financial support, work rights, education rights, and public assistance during old age.
Key Conditions of the Scheme:
- Must be a resident of Maharashtra.
- All citizens aged 60 years and above.
Benefits of the Scheme:
- 5% reservation of beds in hospitals.
- Concession in ST bus travel.
- Medical services for senior citizens in government hospitals.
- Separate medical department for senior citizens in hospitals.
- Free helpline service for senior citizens provided by the police department.
- National toll-free helpline service (Toll-Free Number 14567) for addressing issues and complaints of senior citizens in the state, operated by Janseva Foundation, Pune.
- Health Shield Insurance – Free selected health treatments, specific tests, and follow-up services for senior citizens aged 65 and above (proposed).
